Air Switcher
- Controlled on-air quality of the station’s broadcast; airing E.A.S. Tests weekly and monthly; signed the station on/off air, now broadcasting 24-7.
- Pre-rolled and transitioned syndicated programs and network transmissions at the Master Control Switcher* for a commercial broadcast station.
- Logged local breaks, voice overs*, crawls*, cut-ins, and programs on the log; followed rundowns and time sheets*, stopping-down and re-cueing when necessary; back-timed taped shows to hit correct out-times.
- Converted and imported playlists for the Media Pool (Philips Media Pool, Digital Video System) at the Playlist Editor.
- Operated the Media Pool at the Diskcart/Stream, airing commercial, promo, PSA, and ID spots, per the log; replaced and appended playlists; added and deleted, or changed spots in the Media Pool.
- Scheduled feeds at the Earth Station*; routed* and recorded feeds and tape-delayed programs.
- Switched for Daybreak, Midday, 5pm, 6pm, and 10pm newscasts, severe weather cut-ins, election coverage, UNCF Telethon, Children’s Miracle Network Telethon, “Five Who Care,” “Friday Football Fever” roll-ins, and ABC’s Primetime; “count in” * Studio 2 during cut-ins, newscasts, squeezes, and Lotto.
- Communicated pertinent information to the other departments, News, Sales, Traffic, Weather, and Engineering.
- Built and ran back-ups for the high-dollar programming; SAP* for “Monday Night Football” and other Spanish speaking simulcasts; monitored streaming video* for “kvue.com.”
- Reported equipment failure to Engineering; documented trouble on a daily trouble report.
- Won the Air Switcher’s Contest three times for errorless logs and minimizing lengthy trouble reports.

- Developed and wrote operational procedures for the equipment at Master Control, including the Philips Media Pool, the Tektronix Profile*, and the FlashCam.
Tape Operator
- Operated 1”, Beta, and 1/2” D-2 format VTRs*.
- Loaded the animations, news and sports tapes for Daybreak, Midday, 5pm, 6pm, and 10pm newscast.
- Prepared for the newscasts; transferred news briefs, promos, and IDs into the Media Pool.
- Assisted Master Control with feeds, dubs, tape delays, the Profile and the Media Pool operations.
Studio Operator
- Ripped scripts for the newscasts; studied the color signal on a Waveform Monitor and Vectorscope*; transferred commercial spots into the Media Pool.
- Set-up and maintained studios 1 and 2, the storm center, the newsroom, and the courtyard props, set and lighting*; measured incident light*.
- Ran cameras* for a three-camera studio, setting positions and shots, performing on-air zooms and focuses, trucks and dollies, pans and tilts, and externals and sidebars.

Operations Technician
- Raised Comark and RCA Transmitters at the Microprocessor Remote Control*, via computer comm-link and modem; recorded beam voltage and beam current for HPA-1 and HPA-2 from the transmitter control computer, logging visual power, aural power, intercarriers, and frequency deviations from the Modulation Monitor* to the Operations Log; monitored VITS for KLRU.
- Performed weekly EBS Tests with a Two-Tone Generator/AM Synthesized Receiver/Tone Decoder* for KLRU.
- Pre-rolled and transitioned VTRs and net feeds at the Master Control Switcher* for KLRU.
- Striped* 3/4" tapes for KLRU-Too's Automation System
- Monitored audio and video for KLRU-Too.
- Added and changed events to an on-line, automation-system computer with 12-3/4" VTRs* for KLRU-Too.
- Provided support* for Edit 1 and Studio 6B during edit sessions, pledge drives, and live-to-tape programs.
- Dubbed "Austin City Limits" with Dolby Encoders*.
- Set transponder and channel for the Digital C-Band Satellite Receivers*; set antenna polarity, horizontal or vertical, and channel for the Analog C-Band Satellite Receivers*; set Digital C-Band Satellite Receivers via computer, set and preset selections (PBS-IRD Master Controller Software, Windows for Work Groups).
- Routed* and recorded net feeds; dubbed 3/4" tapes* for the Automation System.
- Studied the color signal on a Waveform Monitor and Vectorscope*.
- Up-dated VR-8 and built the day/night dub reels, requiring the knowledge and usage of control track, time code, assemble and edit features, and master/slave capabilities on 1”, Beta, and 1/2" D-3 format VTRs*; operated a CMX Editor*.

- Turned on the filaments and the transmitter at the Microprocessor Remote Control*, adjusted visual and aural outputs, and monitored VIRS.
- Downloaded and operated a Betacart* and edited an on-line, computerized playlist*.
- Pre-rolled and transitioned VTRs at the Master Control Switcher* for a commercial broadcast station.
